Community Life

Chosen and brought together by Christ, we live in a community consisting of sisters from different countries and languages. Our communities are like a little family, where we share our joys and sorrows, as well as the daily tasks involved in our mission of hospitality to the elderly poor. From the beginning of the congregation, our community life is modelled on the life of the Holy Family in Nazereth. Our mother foundress Jeanne Jugan would say to the young ones “see how Jesus, Mary and Joseph loved one another, all three. How happy they looked! With what kindness and gentleness they spoke to one another! In our little family, it must be the same”.

As a community we enjoy together our daily meals and times of prayer and recreation. Our experience with the elderly poor enables us to provide our elderly Little Sisters with the care and attention they need. They, in turn, share their wisdom with the young and enrich our communities by their example of courage, joyful fidelity and trust in God’s Providence.

A community of Little Sisters, living in complementarity and unity, bears witness with simplicity to the selfless joyous charity of disciples of the risen Christs. From fraternal life flows powerful apostolic energy; each one feels involved and no one acts with individualism in her task, which is always the work of the hospitaller community. The apostolic mission is a profound bond for the community, by which all the Little Sisters come to share the same sentiments, in humility, peace and love for God”.
