Family Spirit

In the winter of 1839, Jeanne Jugan welcomed an elderly person who was infirmed and abandoned. Since then, thousands of elderly people of different religion, countries, languages have been welcomed by the Little Sisters of the Poor. Each one finds a roof, a meal, care, but also human warmth, a new family.

The Little Sisters strive to surround the Residents with kindness and affection as they would for a member of their own family. They seek to enhance their abilities by inviting them to take an active part in the life of the home. Exercising activities that pleases them, feeling useful and recognized, developing varied social relationships, are conducive to the personal development.

The participation of salaried staff, volunteers, and the collaboration of residents’ families strengthen the work of the Little Sister’s community. This kind of relationships allows us to live in simplicity and joy. Making seniors happy until the end of their lives, in the spirit of our founder Jeanne Jugan, is the goal that is closest to our hearts.
