Holy Family Home
Penang Foundation
In June 1952, the community of the Little Sisters started their home in Penang together with a small group of aged on an existing bungalow situated on a big piece of land donated by the late Au Boon Par and Madam Teh Ah Lan of the famous “Tiger Balm” family. This well-known and philanthropic family had already donated land in Singapore for the establishment of a Home for the Aged there in 1935.
Like many other foundation home in various country, the bungalow could not take the increasing number of elderly people, so in 1954, the construction of a big Home and Chapel was carried out. From 1956 until 1967, a part of this beautiful Home in Penang was also the Novitiate for the Province of Asia.
In 2007 the reconstruction of the existing new building took place, and it was completed in 2009. The official opening and blessing of the new home took place on the 19th of December 2009 by the Most Reverend Anthony Selvanayagam, bishop of Penang.
