25 YEARS OF JUBILEE CELEBRATION OF MOTHER EDWINA
On the 24 of June was a memorable day for our home in Colombo. It is just 25th anniversary of Mother Edwina a millstone marked by God’s enduring love and grace in the Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Poor which coincident together in this Jubilee year 2025 as a pilgrim of hope.


Simple and artistic Sri Lankan traditional coconut leaves decoration were done by our employees in the recreation room as well as in the oratory focused the ambience of joy and simplicity of celebration.
Eve of 23rd Jubilee was marked by wishing her in the community followed by residents as well as employees at ground floor. Simple tea party was prepared in the community as an appetizer to mark the communion fraternal spending UN hour of being together.
After dinner we had, a prayerful Para liturgy on the theme of my soul magnifies the Lord & Mother Mary’s Fiat in journeying through faith also in thanks giving for 25 years of faithfulness in service of God and elderly poor.
On the 24th June thanksgiving mass was celebrated at 10.30 am by Fr. Hashandre Perera Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament with five other priests. Homily was emphasis on power of God’s grace also His faithfulness and value of consecrated life Mrs. Priyanthi Seneviratne well known music professor and a few members of her choir sang very melodiously appropriate hymns in English and Latin, which were chosen for the jubilee celebration. After the Holy Eucharistic celebration, all the guests were invited to the auditorium. According to the Indian culture Aarthi rite was done by staff honored by Ponadai and Lighting of the traditional lamp. Hymne Showers of blessing was sung while cutting the cake, distributed to everyone with welcome drink, and followed by delicious festive Meal.
Among the guest, some of the little sister’s families, close friends and Docters were happy to share the enjoyment of the jubilee.
The celebration continued in the afternoon, from 15.00 to 17.00 hours. The two-hour programme was well chosen for the occasion and well entertained by the residents and staff. The assembly appreciated this moment of family spirit.




It’s a moment of witnessing our religious vocation: “What Happiness for us to be a Little Sister of the Poor” to the future generation who is seeking to find meaning in their lives at the service of the Poor Elderly.
