Visit of Mother General and her Assistant Mother Marie Rose to Philippines in 2024...
In February 2024 we were delighted to welcome Our Mother General Maria del Monte Auxiliadora who made the First Canonical Visit to the Philippines with one of her Assistants, Mother Marie Rose.
Our visitors arrived at Clark Airport and were warmly greeted by the Little Sisters of Pampanga. Joy was well felt, especially for our Sr. Teresita and Mother Assistant Marie Rose who were together for so many years in the Novitiate of Bolinao. Mother General Maria imagined that a small house with only three Residents would be quiet, however, upon her arrival, she was surprised to see quite a big crowd, with a group of colorful and lively dancers performing the ‘Kanta Pilipinas’ to welcome them.
The following day, Sunday, at the initiative of our parish priest of San Isidro, Mother General, and Mother Marie Rose attended the blessing of the statue of St. Jeanne Jugan that will be venerated in this parish.
It was an emotional moment to see our Mother General on the pedestal encouraging us to continue this new foundation named: ‘St. Jeanne Jugan’s Home for the Elderly’. From the beginning, our Mother’s name has resounded around Pampanga, making known her love for the poor elderly.
On Monday, friends, neighboring families, and also the children from Mary Immaculate school came to join us for our Thanksgiving Mass presided by Bishop Emeritus Apacio Aniceto along with several priests from the diocese, solemnly served by a group of young altar boys and sung by a beautiful choir.
Their arrival in Bolinao was equally emotional, especially for Mother Marie Rose whose nostalgia of having stayed in this beautiful Bolinao for 10 years resurges. The employees escorted Mother General’s car with their motorcycles to the front door where the residents dressed in traditional costumes were waiting with eagerness.
Mother General Maria and Mother Marie Rose were enchanted by the outfit of the Ladies in their ‘Baro’t Saya’ The Filipina costume.
Our distinguished guests were welcomed by ‘Santa Niño’ dancing in the hands of one of our Lolas whose rhythmic steps admirably match the Sinulog’s traditional dance.
In all the homes they visited, Mother General and Mother Marie Rose were pleased to meet and give a little souvenir to the Residents, Staff, and AJJ Associate.
It was really a grace filled time to have the visit of our Mother General to our Province. May God bless her always.
