On the 16 Feb 2025, we Sr Philomena of St Joseph, Sr Jessica of the Trinity and with two residences went for an outreach program for vocation of the little sister of the poor was held in the church of our lady of good health, Parit Buntar.
We took this opportunity to reach out to the young people of the parishioners to stir their thoughts towards vocation. We were very well welcomed by the parish priest Fr Martin Arulandu and all the parishioners.
Before the finale Blessing Fr Martin invited us to come up and share about our congregation. With the help of the parish priest, we used a short documentary on the life of Sr Mary of the Cross and the life of little sisters of the poor which was taken from the home in Bangalore, the documentary showed the various stages of the life of little sisters. After mass, we had many young and old who gathered around us to question and want to know more about us.
By providence, we had a chance to meet the catechism children and youth during a small gathering in the church hall. We are glad that the children ask questions to help them towards a deeper reflection, they range from the age 7 to 16 years old, including the youth age 18 to 35 years old. Here are a few questions asked by the youth and the children: can we choose between carriers or vocation? How do we survive financially both in work and money? Sister, answer we take the place of the poor as Beggars. Why do you choose this life? which we share our vocation story. This is an interesting question: Do I need to be pure to become a sister? we answer, we give God Multiply. Do you have a relationship with someone before entering? Do you separate from your family, and abundance your family when you choose this life? Do you change your habits while in the family? Do you watch movies? And so on.
Our present and visit has motivated the youth, as they decided to come and explore themselves to get the experience of the work and ministry of little sisters as they plan with their parish priest to have a stay in camp on the 22/3 to 23/3 of march (third week of lent) here in Penang.
What a great joy for us to be part of the parishioners and to spread and make known our congregation and mission. All praises and Glory to God.
